Alleria kept close to Jake, not wanting the man to accidentally trip any sort of alarm or booby trap the storeowner may have left laying around. "Watch your footing, and keep your ears open."

You dont find any door to the basement but soon after you hear voices coming from underneath.

You all hide and soon after a trapdoor hidden under a carpet were you didn't look (rolled search and you just missed it) opens and two men dressed in black come out and close the door behind them and head towards the shops back door.

Alleria didn't move, letting the two men move away from the trapdoor. She motioned for the others to wait as well. There was something down there, she was sure of it. She didn't know what, but whatever the men in black were doing down there could help them uncover what the shopkeeper was up to.

Well, I think I'm gonna call an end to this chapter, check if more want to join and if I can get 4 people I will resume at the start of chapter 2.

Since you stuck it out till the end I'l just tell you what would have happened and a behind the scenes of what happened.

Down the stairs under Nolan's shop is a secret lair for a group of darkfriends , Nolan is their leader. They have some trollocs down there and everything. They were plotting to overthrow the local government and take control of the town.

They are even keeping the mayors daughter and a few other family members of important officials captive down there.


The whole story started a while ago when Morella got married to Aeron the captain of the guards, which of course was bad for caleb who had been a darkfriend for over 30 years now. He had no trouble hiding his activities from his sister as she was a very suspicious person but Aeron was not so easily fooled. Still he could not stop the weeding and so his most dangerous enemy became his brother in law.

Of course it wasn't long before Aeron became suspicious of caleb and began asking too many question about the suspicious people who were visiting him at all hours and were he would disappear too every now and then.

caleb panicked and hired some assassins to kill Aeron and bring back his heron marked sword as proof.

The assassins attacked Aeron that night but failed to kill him, but they escaped to try again.

Aeron worried for Morella's safety decided it was best he leave town for a while and once he was sure she was safe he would come back to settle this.

so he packed their things and left town in a hurry followed by the assassins. What neither group expected was that he would be ambushed by a group of trollocs on the way. These trollocs were separated from the force that chased Rand into Shadar Logoth not so long ago and were lost and attacked mainly because they were hungry. (in The Eye of the World)

You arrived on the scene at this time and while you weren't able to save Aeron you saved Morella who not knowing about her brother decided the best thing for her to do was return to him.

On the way back you ran into the assassins who pretended to the merchants they learned there that their target had been killed
from the fact his wife wasn't whit him anymore and that one of you had his heron blade sword. Of course they still wanted their gold and all they needed to get was his sword as proof that they had killed him. So they waited for the right time and killed the one whit the sword and took it from him and went back to caleb to tell him that they killed Aeron.

Then you arrived at his shop whit Morella, whit his plan to overthrow the town already in motion the last thing he needed was someone to interfere. He decided to simply get rid of you and Morella as fast as he could. So he contacted the assassins again and since they had lied about killing Aeron negotiate a lower price for the murder of Morella and arranged for you to take the blame for it. Whit his annoying sister gone and you out of the picture he would be all clear when he made his move to take control of the town and he hopes to gain the favor of the dark one by doing so.

Of course you guys were gonna ruin everything by showing up in his lair and killing him and all his allies and freeing his hostages, clearing your name in doing so.
