More about Leon Steinway:
Leon was raised in a typical Jewish household, all of the standard rules applied to his childhood. He took over the family shoe shop business from his father when he was 33 years old. It was only his father’s ill health that made the old goat retire otherwise Leon would still have been driving the business’s delivery van. It was at this point that Leon’s life took its first dramatic change. Under his leadership the once ailing shop flourished and Leon found love in the form of Linda, the shop’s star employee. Unfortunately not all the garden was rosy. Linda was never fully accepted by the family as she wasn’t Jewish. No matter how hard Leon and Linda tried nothing was even good enough for the family and it began to cause a rift in their marriage.
Linda sought solace in material objects, as long as she had her fine clothes, sporty car and lunch reservations at a posh restaurant she buried her feeling of rejection. She also turned a blind eye to the fact that Leon was spending more and more time on his computer in his office. One of the upgrades that Leon had introduced to the business was computer technology which he had become quite adept with.
Leon had begum gambling the business’s newly revived profits away. The more he lost the more chances he took trying to win back what he had lost. It was only with some creative accounting that he managed to put off the evitable bankruptcy for three years.
Unable to face either Linda or the family Leon fled to the city’s subculture and began living on the streets. He crawled into a bottle to blank out the shame he felt and lost all his dignity. He shunned human contact and spent his time stealing just enough money to keep his alcohol level topped up. He has leant a whole range of new skills to survive on the streets, skills that most people wouldn’t admit to acquiring.
