More about Janet Barnes:

Janet had a very normal and happy youth as the only child of well off parents. The private school she attended had much focus on outdoor pursuits and as well as being good at her studies, she enjoyed archery, horse riding and numerous outward bound trips. Activities she still enjoys whenever possible. After leaving school with good results she eventually became PA to the Managing Director of a successful company. She has been very happy with her comfortable lifestyle and live in relationship with Don Taylor, an IT troubleshooter of her own age.

When the pandemic hit, Janet contracted the disease early on but threw it off just as quickly, only being sick for a couple of days. Don was away from their home in Portsmouth working in Leeds at the time. Janet had a brief conversation with him on the phone just after the quarantine was imposed and was reassured that he was still fine. After her own recovery, everything has descended into chaos with no phone lines or mobile networks operating. Unable to contact Don, Janet made her way to Leeds in attempt to find him. Her last communication with her parents was not encouraging, it appeared everyone in their village had the disease and they thought they might have it too. Janet assumes they are dead and is devastated, however, she considered it more appropriate to look for Don as there is a possibility he is still alive.
