When the Captain called out to get to the longboats, Quarion had tried to comply. He felt completely useless. He hadn't been too sick until this storm had started - but even when not vomiting, he had to endure the taunts from the real sailors about being a "pretty boy" or endless reminders of having been lifted into the air when trying to learn to tie ropes . And now their predictions that he'd get blown overboard seemed likely to come true. However the sailors appreciated his stories and sea chanteys enough that the ribbing was good-natured, mostly. He made his way to the bridge, hanging on to railings and beams for dear life, aided by a length of rope to hold him fast when the waves broke over his head. How could things get worse??

The the resounding crash of the cannon ripping through the hull sent ice down his veins. Well, he'd wanted adventure. As his Ma always said "be careful what you wish for - you might just get more of it than you'd anticipated" (sounds better in Elvish...).

*The only thing I can do for these good sailors who are trying to save our lives is to sing for them, maybe encourage them a little (as if imminent death were not sufficient motivation...)* thought Quarion.

He then lashes himself to the mast and begins to sing a popular ballad of courageous sailors who survive a great storm, unleashing his ability to inspire competence along with the stirring melody...

The blasted Elf was SINGING!? Jonah was washed off the boat amd teh blighter was singing some ditties about the jolly life at sea?! True, the sing was a good one, and... well, Eldrid had heard worse singers. But ye Gods, there was a time for everything!

Peering over the railings into the roaring darkness of the sea, Eldrid knew there was no way he could spot his brother out there in the dark foam. And yet he couldn't help looking. Staring out into the darkness, while holding on for dear life as the waves lifted washed over him again and again. Perhaps he should just jump in...?

As Eldrid looked over the side he could see what looked like a mass of shiny-smooth rock heading up from the sea to greet the ship. He backed away as the crunching sound erupted from around them all. Quarion's rope was entirely lashed when the rock hit, and he fell from the mast onto the deck. Rolling, he brought himself up as the boards of the deck flew up, splintering out from the centre like some sort of malformed bud opening.

The captain screamed, but his voice was lost amongst the din of the rupted deck and the clash of metal against rock as the cannons smashed against the ship's destroyer. Crew members flew from the ship as the wood was demolished from below.
