“What an intoxicating beat” beamed Arty as his hips began an involuntary sway in time with the drumming. Realising that this was neither the time nor place for dancing he stopped his wiggling and in a serious tone “Well, it appears we’re not alone, which just beggars more questions. If this island does submerge then it must be encapsulated somehow, how else could they survive? And” he said taking a deep breath “We don’t know if the natives are friendly, I suggest we follow the road for the time being and perhaps keep our eyes peeled. We don’t want to end up being taken by surprise do we?”

Wordlessly, Eldrid stepped out into the undergrowth, trying to get around the side of the clearing up ahead; perhaps get a look while who- or whatever was making tha sound might be distracted with his ever-chatty ex-colleagues coming up the road.

Up ahead Eldrid could not hear much. He could tell from the lowness of the sound that it must be still quite far away, perhaps from the middle of the island. Now that they were near a road though, they could see where the tree line stopped entirely and where the mountain in the middle of the island began. There was indeed something cut into it, it looked like some sort of head. As well as this there was a flat area about halfway up the mountain, and on it something which looked like roofs.

Steffan looked up at the new structure in the distance. Hmm, think now, what kind of archtechure is that?

To Steffan, the head looked somewhat like that of a turtle, and now that he looked at it the mountain was nearly like its shell. It was obviously old, much older than the first mention of this island, which was a thousand years ago. It looked like something that ancient tribes might have built as a homage to a god.

"No shit Sherlock," said Scurvy before realising who he had said them to, "Anybody ever hear any rumours of a cannabilistic tribe on this island? Just asking. I mean i'm a scrawny little bleeder. Nowt on me but skin, bone and gristle. The prof here" nodding to Arturo, "Might keep them going for a while in the winter months... No offence!"

Arturo’s belly undulated as he dissolved into a full throttle laugh “No offence taken my dear boy. Yes I can imagine that I would see them through the winter quite nicely” he said slapping his belly “I have to concur though that something is very much a miss on this wonderful island. I would love to find out more about the nuts and bolts of place, whatever is craved into that rock face may be a clue as to what God these islanders worship. Wouldn’t be splendid if we could converse with them, assuming they don’t have cannibalistic tendencies that is”

" I will have to think deeply about what god they may worship, the resemblance to a turtle is remarkable, if you all look at the out croppings from here," Steffan points so all can see.

There is something ancient looking about that carving, something primal, whatever it was it was older than most of the religions in the world now.

"Right behind you Arty, don't want you to end up on the spit," Steffan yelled as he tried to keep up with the heavy set man who could move when he was excited.

It did not take long for what Eldrid had thought of as rooves to come into an intelligible view. It seemed that he was right in his pressumption, they were indeed rooves. Ahead of the group lay a small village. The buildings were made of stone and the rooves made of a terracotta tile. There were not many buildings, about twenty in total. The main road which they were upon ran through the centre of the village, the majority of the houses jumbled upon it, with what seemed like a village centre and a road that ran perendicular from the main road, making the village in the shape of a cross.

Steffan looks for any sign of life, from a person to a chicken that would let him know if the natives were around or not.

[ June 4, 2008, 3:29 pm ] - Gryffydd65 rolled 1d20 ± 3 and obtained 6 ( 3 ). Reason : spot

Steffan didn't see anything moving in the little area he must have been looking at.
