Scree and other debris surrounded the base of the mountain, it's peak seeming to soar into the air much higher than it really did. At the peak, there was a brightness greater than any other visible on the island. The mountain itself was a dark gray colour, though scattered here and there were several green areas. The carving in the mountain was now as clear as day, it was a turle's head. In front of the group there was an archway cut into the stone, and cut around it were several shell like carvings. The archway itself was quite big, at least ten feet wide and perhaps as much as fifteen feet tall.

"That reminds me," said Scurvy shifting his standing stance uncomfortably and making quick looks towards the forest, "I don't suppose anybody has any paper on them. I think i'm making a turtle head of my own..."

A boyish giggle escaped Arty rubbery lips as Scurvy hopped from one foot to the other “I think the forest may provide my friend. There should be large leaves that will help you out of your predicament. Just be careful where you squat” he warned as Scurvy scampered off in to the undergrowth.
Turning his attention to the structure before them Arty let out a long low whistle “Well that is a sight to behold. I wonder which God that turtle represents?”

Steffan was unable to answer Artie's question, he just didn't know the answer and was struck with awe at the sight of the Temple.

Arty could not drag his eyes away from the great statue as he answered Finn "Only one way to find out and that to proceed with extreme caution"

Steffan withdrew his large knife and held the cloth wrapped chair leg in the other, he hoped someone else would have the sense to light it if it came to trouble.

"Astounding! And still no sign of the drummers. Arturo, have you ever seen or heard of anything like this before??" said Quarion who then headed towards the arches for a closer look.

Arty sprang to life at being asked a question as most people tried not to encourage his verbal diarrhoea, walking around animatedly he began “Well there are many ancient civilizations that use a tribal beat as either a warning or a welcoming or in fact can be used as a form of communication For instance along the mid-rift of Atholl there is a tribe that actually never use verbalised speech only drumming, quite fascinating how they have whole conversations within the limits of a couple of beats”
Following Quarion towards the arches like a faithful dog following its master he continued whether anyone was listening or not “Now I believe that these people here are summoning the turtle to submerge and since” he looked towards the aquamarine sky “they seemed to have completed that task they have ceased. I do think we should perhaps proceed with care and caution though, they might not take too kindly to visitors”

" I agree about the caution, let us spread out so that we have warning should anyone approach us, although I don't know if we should go in armed or with our hands open as a sign of peace? Any ideas?" Steffan said as he slipped the knife in belt at his waist while still holding the makeshift torch.

"Surely we can be cautious without being hostile!" said Quarion with a snort. "Am I the only one who can see in the dark? Perhaps I should go ahead and scout before you light torches that will surely give our presence away quickly!"

"What a top idea!" nodding his admiration to Quarion "We will follow on behind you"

Quarion enetered through the arch and into the tunnel that lay behind it. The stone was cool and at the moment enough light was entering from outisde to be able to see normally. However, the light soon started to disipate as Quarion moved further and further into the tunnel. After twenty or so feet a slight slope upwards started, and so the light was lost entirely. The walls themselves were roughly hewn, though they were wide enough apart to not cause anyone cause for worry. As Quarion climber the slope steadily got steeper and steeper, but as well as this Quarion was sure that it was getting lighter and lighter. After nigh on two hundred feet of climbing this slope the ground leveled off again. This area was already lit with torches. It was a kind of circular area, its walls smooth unlike those of the tunnel and it had three passages coming from it; the one Quarion had just traversed, one that went down and one that went up. Both of these were as dark as the entrace tunnel. In the centre of the room was a small pillar, and atop this was a carving of a turtle.

"Wow what an unusual sight, which way do you think we should go? I vote up as it has to end at some point, but down could continue for a while," Steffan said as he walked closer to the statute of the turtle to see if anything was unusual.

The statuette was made of a coarse stone, and it had been obviously made with great and absolute care. The markings of the shell were etched in perfectly, as were the scales of the flesh of the turtle. It was moveable, not actually being a part of the pillar on which it stood, but there was nothing underneath it. As Steffan went to put the statue back a gleam caught his eye, and as he looked at the turtles eyes he could see that they were in fact tiny gemstones, so small that they probably weren't worth anything, but it showed that a lot of devotion was involved in making it.
