Thoughts of battle ran through Eldrid's mind as he stormed off down the passage. He could just about hear the others behind him, though he was hard pressed in doing so. His mind concentrated on hearing and musing on his own thoughts, he failed to see a thin line out in front of him. His foot went under the line and his body over it, tripping him. Instantly his torch was snuffed out, and not by natural means. He felt harsh hands grab hold of him and something was stuffed into his mouth.

Fighting for a moment to get free, Eldrid soon stopped struggling; they were too many, whoever they were. So, this was how it was going to end? Slain to satisfy some idiot god on a floating island? Wel, why not? Eldrid D'Jean had never thought he'd be a hero of song and stories anyway. And after his brother died on the ship and the hopes of ever seing his sister again disappeared with the submerging of the island, what was really the point?

His only regret was that he couldn't take some of these creatures with him; that would make them, remember him, at least. Well, he was still breathing; might be there'd be a chance to give these ambushers a lasting impression on of him yet... For now, he did nothing, simply allowed them to carry him along, saving up his strength...

Eldrid felt himself carried along the tunnel. His eyes were uncovered, and as he neared the bottom of this tunnel once again he could see that there was a well lit round room at its end. The light also let him see his captors. Their skin was a gray-green colour, and was made of scales. Their noses were flat and they were completely bald.

Oh Gods above and beow thought Eldrid, when he finally caught a glimpse of his captiors. They're... snakepeople..? Or lizardmen, perhaps. Or... or maybe they're decended from the damned turtle itself!

The sight of his captors unsettled him, and more than just a little.Still, there was noughtto be done...yet. He tried to study them as he walked, looking for weaknesses, mannerism that he, as an outsider, might take advantage of.

One of his captors saw Eldrid looking at him and gave him a smack across his head. He whispered some kind of language to one of the others and soon a bag was put over Eldrid's head. He was then led through what seemed to him as a maze of tunnels, eventually being thrown down on the floor. He then heard the sounds of footsteps retreating and of a door or something similar closing.

Trying to get to his feet and remove the cloth that was obstructing his view, Eldrid patted himelf down quickly, trying to see if his meager belongings were still on him.

When Eldrid took off the bag he found that it did not make that much of a difference, the room he was in was fathomlessly dark. However, it appeared that his captors had not thought to check his person for weapons and the like, he still had everything that he had before he was taken.

"Damn this dark..." Eldrid muttered, then slowly tried to move around, beware of any pitfalls of sharp, pointy sticks, hoping to get some sort of idea what this room was.

The room was small, barely four foot by four foot from what Eldrid could tell. Its walls were roughly hewn, as was its floor. He was surrounded by stone on all sides except one, where a wooden door blocked his path. From around the door Eldrid could see faint trickles of light where it was not quite flush with the walls and floor.

Doing his best in the dark, Eldrid began to examine the door, trying to determine if tehre might be a way to open it, with ot without the use of, say, the knife he had in his belt.

The door itself was quite sturdy, and it as covered with scratch marks....

However, the hinges were quite rusty to the touch, and thinking on it he had heard them squeal quite loud as he was led in. If he hit them in the right way they might just buckle.

Breaking the door open would most likely attract his captors. He took out knife and began to carve at the wood around the hinges. It'd take alot longer than if he had tried to break them, and it was anyone's guess if it would work at all. But at least it was quiet. If it didn't work, he could always revert to plan B; wait for the snake-folk to return and drive his cleaver into the skull of the first unfortunate one to open the door...

Carving around the hinges would indeed take some time, as Eldrid soon started to find. He slowly carved and carved, his hands becoming sweaty and his grip loosening until the knife eventually slipped and bit into his leg. However, it appeared that his blood loss was not in vain. He noticed now that the knife had run along a kind of seem in the hinge, to be more precise, the head of a screw.

Doing his best to ignore the fact that blood was beginning to tricke down his leg, Eldrid focused on the screw. Trying to use the knife as a screwdriver, he began working at the screw, keeping a goog grip on teh knife so as not to have is slip and cut him again.

Clink!

The sound of a screw dropping.

Clink!

The sound of a second screw dropping.

At this though, the bottom hinge collapsed and the door dropped down to the ground. The top hinge was ripped out by the force of the brief fall. The door stood on its bottom precariously, waiting only to be pushed over.

From behind the door came harsh sounds, perhaps anger?
