The playing field and park were lit by dull moonlight. A soft wind played with the swings making their chains creak as they moved. On the wall were some graffiti remarks, about love and hate, the usual. All was deserted and quiet.
There were a couple of lights in the windows of the row of houses that overlooked the area, but these were muted by curtains and blinds.

Pulling up a couple of blocks away from the playground, Aaron walked the rest of the way in the moonlight. When he got closer to the place, he let the power of the blood enhance his senses, allowing him to see, hear and take in scents better. He walked the playground slowly, at one point taking out a photo of Teresa from the file in the saddlebags he had over his shoulder. He could almost feel her, crying out at what had been done to her.
"Well, Teresa... if there's anything you want to show me, now's the time," he muttered, although he expected nothing; the power to summon up the dead he had witnessed before. But he didn't have it. Looking at the windows with lights in them, he figured the girl's familiy would be behind one of them. Might even be they'd call the police at the sight of a prowler around the playground. Well, let them call; if Phillip controlled anything in town, it was the police. The gold coin should keep him from being pulled in for questioning.
Walking around the playground, he inspected the various benches, stopped to look at the grafitti, and looked around for manholes and the like. Sure, it was unlikely that the Nosferatus had not noticed someone moving through their turf below ground, but if the critter called Worm could hide his unglyness, maybe he could elude the Nozzies...?

Aaron finds nothing unusual but is struck with the sense that he is being watched.

There appears to be a large rat watching aaron, sitting on its haunches in the area of longer grass. It doesn't seem afraid of him, just observing him.

Noticing the rather large animal, Aaron watched it for a moment, finding it's eyes and holding them with his, then reached out to it with his mind:
Are you watching me, biggun? Someone ask you to? Or are you just watching this place?
Of course, if it wasn't really as rat, he most likely would not get a reply, or reaction of any kind.

The rat came closer, sniffed at Aaron, then began to grow. It formed into a ratman, holding a rather nasty looking knife. "I have been charged with guarding the safety of the small ones, leave this place forever or face final death" he stated calmly.

Wow.
Here was a first; London sure did have her surprises. He could honestly say that he had never encountered a creature like this before, and it took him aback. Instinctively, blood rushed to his hands, elongating the claws there for the second time tonight, but he managed to remain seated, rather than fling himself at the threath.
"There are no little ones here now, guardian. Nor would I harm them if they were, as my business is to try and find the ones who would. You and I have no cause for grief. I'd think our tasks came from the same seat, were it not for the fact that I ought to have been forewarned that you were here, particularly when you have been charged with bringing Final Death to all Kindred who approach."

"The council has charged me and my kin with this duty, after learning of the evil that has arrived in the city. In the shape of a bloodsucker who lusts for innocents." The ratman speaks calmly and watches Aaron closely for signs of reaction. "It is our business, not the Princes business. If you are no threat then you are not in danger."

"I am no threat," Aaron conceeded. "I am glad to hear we are not at odds. I have to admit, I have travelled quite a bit, but I have not met your kind before; though that was not the purpose of my coming here, I am glad it was the result. I came here hoping to find some clue about those who took the girl-child, but I doubt I will find anything that you have not already discovered; I suspect your senses are much keener than mine. Besides, you seem to keep them all closer to the ground."
Getting up slowly so as not to provoke the creature, he added: "So, I guess I ought to leave you to you vigil; it would not do to have you seen by the general populace. Besides..." he added conspiratoraly, "I wouldn't want you to get a bad name amongst your own for talking to me..."

"My family saw the girl go with a young woman, pretty with dark hair. Tainted scent. This was all the information I have, we have a amicable truce between our kind and yours in the city. I would never break it for someone who had not threatened me and whose aim was the same as ours." He holds out one clawed hand to shake and changed into a man, shabbily dressed. "The name is Harold, " he said with a lob sided grin, a large scar featured down his cheek and onto his lip drawing it up slightly.

Forcing the claws to retract on his right hand, Aaron reached out and shook the hand offered, grinning as he did so. "Good to meet you, Harold. I'm Slade. And yes, seems 'one of ours' is behind this. Although, that is not really right; first off, he's not 'ours' as he is a 'rogue agent' who has no home anywhere, because of the things he... likes to do. And secondly, he's not 'one'. He doesn't work alone; he has a sidekick of sorts. In addition, the young girl your family saw was most likely a local girl who he took as his own, and who now serves his foul purposes."
Taking his hand back, he shoved both hands in his pockets as he shrugged and, looking slightly apologethic, added: "Yeah, I know... we can be real b*stards. But we're not all like that. Or at least, we like to think we're not..."

"I know nothing of this fiend or how he hunts, so we guard this and other places of innocence from your kind. Be warned, some of my bretheren are not as patient as myself." He spits to one side, "These monsters make me sick, who can hurt little ones and believe they are doing good, " he shakes his head and sits on the bench.

"I appreciate the warning, Harold. But tell me; 'believe they are doing good'..? What makes you say that? As far as I know, there's no way of knowing what motive these guys have for what they do. Unless you know different?"

"I have seen human versions of these monsters, who believe they love these innocents and their love is recipricated. They see that the children are honoured to be treated this way, I have seen them heard them talking...." and he gives a feral grin, "and gave the police anonymous tip offs."
