This is the place to ask questions or make demands. We could also just have a discussion about the group we all want. If you think it's a good idea then put a list in here of the characters in order of preference. We might just be able to keep most people happy.

Well, I myself am quite tempted by the agent and the doctor, my order of preference if we're doing it that way would be:

Character 6 - Agent/drifter
Character 2 - Medical Doctor
Character 3 - Merchant/drifter
Character 1 - Corsair/drifter
Character 5 - Imperial Navy Engineer
Character 4 - Marine

Following on from Curry's idea I'd vote for the chancer type of character - one with a view to making a living from day to day:

Character 3 - Merchant/drifter
Character 1 - Corsair/drifter
Character 6 - Agent/drifter
Character 5 - Imperial Navy Engineer
Character 2 - Medical Doctor
Character 4 - Marine

I think for being the first other person to reply in my game threads you should get the character you want..... :D Still, I dare say we better see what other people have to say first.

The doctor is a great character - good skills and loads to work on to flesh him out. The agent/drifter is the one essential character as the group stands - he has the ship shares and the mortgage on the salvage vessel; otherwise it's down to the guy with the ships boat - useful in-system but not jump capable.
The agent/drifter is a good character but his/her advantages are pretty much balanced by the enemies acquired during generation..... this one might not be an easy ride.

Cearlan - our posts crossed - sorry. It doesn't look like your most preferred characters clash too badly with Curry's which is good.

That merchant/drifter has had a rough time if you look at his/her career, but a very useful character to have around - the best pilot of the lot. Also a relative youngster which leaves lots of room for development if you can keep him/her alive!

Character 1 - Corsair/drifter

Character 3 - Merchant/drifter
Character 6 - Agent/drifter

Everyone's being really polite so far - no clashes. I think it's important that this is not seen entirely as a first come first served exercise. I'm happy if it turns out that everyone's pleased but if you do really feel like you want the character someone has put in at their number 1 slot then I think we should be able to negotiate.

Still, like this it seems we have the doctor or the agent, the naval engineer and the merchant/drifter. At a push if no-one else gets back to us, we could play a group like that. So that's good.

Interesting choices I must say.

Character 4 - Marine
Character 1 - Corsair/drifter
Character 2 - Medical Doctor
Character 5 - Imperial Navy Engineer
Character 6 - Agent/drifter
Character 3 - Merchant/drifter

I'm also willing to ignore my list and grab whatever the group needs the most to flesh it out.

I concur with Sandyin. As the last one in, or one of them anyway I have less right to call a character mine than most. I'll take whatever is left.

I'll continue in the spirit of non-clashing:

Character 2 - Medical Doctor
Character 6 - Agent/drifter
Character 4 - Marine
Character 1 - Corsair/drifter
Character 3 - Merchant/drifter
Character 5 - Imperial Navy Engineer

The last unclaimed character, the Corsair, got shunted down the list quite abit, because the title just reminded me of Eldrid, my character in Curry's game "Shipwrecked", and I didn't fancy playing a another mean and hateful pirate, set of backstabbing the rest of the crew and looking out only for himself. If by corsair in this setting something completely different is meant, feel free to enlighten me, and maybe the poor thing gets bumped up the list. :havefun:

Cheers for the list Ghost. Well you could play a misunderstood corsair who only ended up robbing vessels and spacing their crews because his mummy didn't love him. Seriously though your previous career needn't necessarily reflect the way your character is when they enter the game; he/she could be thoroughly changed from his/her youth. Also bear in mind that just as one man's freedom fighter is another man's bandit, one man's pirate can be another man's patriotic hero.... we English do that one very well: both Francis Drake and Walter Raleigh were considered pirates by the Spanish crown..... as they operated on privateers licences, the Spanish kind of had a point.

Okay - I've pm'd Quizzical to see if we are still waiting for another player or not. However, in the meantime I think I can safely hand the characters out. It's not too late if you want to make a pitch for another character, but if not just take the one you're given and submit a character story, appearance and all that to the character threads. We'll do equipment as well at this stage and choosing specialisms for skills that demand it - we can sort that via pm or entirely in the character threads, whatever you prefer. It's up to you guys to customise the characters but I'll help with info and advice if you like.

Ghost - medical doctor
Sandyin - marine
Gryffydd - navy engineer
Cearlan - merchant
Currymaniac - agent

Arothas' retired soldier is something of a wild card - we'll have to try to tie him in somehow.

Also I'll post details of the ship and the ship's boat as soon as I can find some good deck plans. Starship economics are not very forgiving in Traveller.... repayments, maintenance and so on add up to one thing: if you want to keep the ship you need to make money!

Heh. Well, I have circae 19.500 Creds. Although they'd need to contact me first... Heh. I can see several ways to tie me into the story. The simplest which of being TSA recommending the Group contacts (and hires) me for extra security. Gah.
