Bill, as he was now named sat at the large farmhouse table and stuffed food into his mouth like there was no tomorrow. He couldn't remember the last time he had eaten, had he eaten since he was created? He tried to ignore the visions that danced before his eyes and the voices surrounding him clambering to be heard, some real some imagined.

"What do you want from me? I don't understand!" he looks with wide eyes at the questioning faces around him. "I have to tell you about the book with the spell that stops the chaos leak, and my blood.....and then all will be well."

Trapsing in after the others, Peter leans against one of the kitchen worksurfaces. "We just want to try and understand what you're trying to tell us." He takes his coat off and holds it between his legs. "Could you slow down a bit, mate?" he asks nicely. "I dunno about the rest of you, but this is all a bit new to me. A leak? Do you mean a pipeline?"

"I think we'd better let him finish eating so he doesn't choke ... but Bill, you might want to slow down there so you don't get sick from eating too much ... I guess you haven't eaten in a while. Don't worry, we have plenty of food... for now ... so you will be able to eat again when you are hungry." Alyssa is carrying 2 mugs of tea and slides one towards Bill. "Careful with this, it's hot." She takes a chair near him and tries not to fidget or stare. She turns to Peter and responds, "I don't get it either, other than that he seems to have some ideas about where the slugs came from and how to stop them."

"Don't be silly," Bill replied to Peters question with a little girlish giggle. He pushes away his food looking very satisfied and full, "There are hundreds of dimensions and surrounding them all is chaos...". He looks at the confused faces and thinks how to explain. "Has anyone read Lovecraft, Cthulu? Chaos is the elder god, she created the universe but now wants to destroy it. Her minions are.....unpleasant to say the least. The slugs, as you call them are the lesser of her creatures and here they are learning evolving to be you." Bill wasn't sure whether they understood but continued on anyway, "The plague that came here, and the fear, hatred and suspicion that came along with it stretched the barrier seperating the reality from chaos until it went..." He picked up some cling film that had been over the bread and stretched it tight until his fingers popped through it, "just like that."

"To be quite honest mate," Adam said making a popping noise with his tongue and cheek, "I think you've gone just like that. The slugs and Chris, well, they were certainly an oddity, but what you're saying, jeez you're make it sound as if we're some characters from a dodgy sci-fi video game."

"Lovecraft? Cthulhu?" Janet had heard of them although it certainly wasn't her taste in reading. "I'm sorry Bill, I haven't read any of that, but do you know any practical way of dealing with these.. creatures?" All this talk of chaos and Gods and.. other dimensions. It seemed he had been reading a little too much of that kind of thing himself.

"You think I am mad, don't you," Bill softly spoke to Adam, "But I know you, your loneliness and bitterness that you use to keep people away but you crave company. Stevie told me how you saved him from a burning building, prayed for him to live because you didn't want to be alone. I know these thing!" There is a sense of quiet menace from the man as he speaks to Adam.

"And you M..Janet," he stuttered over her name, finding it difficult not to revert to the martyr. "The only way to deal with these things is to seal the hole, and for that you need the book."

"And do you plan on giving us a plus two mace of wisdom or some crap as well?" Adam said angrily, this talk about 'Stevie' was getting to him, he could feel himself losing control. "I'm sure that you must have some kind magical oddity to give us on this quest for the book."

"Book?" asked Janet vaguely. "Do you mean that Lovecraft thing you were just talking about? I'm sure we can find one somewhere, but if it's just a matter of sealing a hole where they're coming from, surely a few bags of concrete would do the trick". She hadn't listened to a lot of what Bill had said, dismissing most of it as the ravings of a madman.

Leon listened on and off to the conversation trying to distract himself from the need that was growing, “So are we supposed to take this seriously,” he asked snappily, his patience fraying by the second “We all know there was a virus and that probably mutated our very own garden slugs into, I don’t know, teeth wielding monsters but Chris was just a home-grown psycho. Dimensions, vengeful Gods and minions come on now people”

"I read some," Peter pipes up. "It seemly mostly about fishy creatures and some crazy Arab guy." He chuckles darky. "I guess nothing changes. Fear of the alien... But the idea of multiple dimentions isn't new," Peter adds. "I mean there was superstrings and then Brane Theory and Resonance wasn't there?" He catches sight of some of the faces gathered. "Sorry, I just like to read stuff."

Peter's gaze shifts around the room. "Not so long ago, our great-grandparents would have been in church hoping that the Devil himself wouldn't take them or their kids away. We live in a godless world. Just because we've decided not to believe, it doesn't mean the divine isn't there."

He looks steadily at Bill, as if trying to read him in some way. "Let's say all of this is as you say. What would we need to do to stop the leak?"

"Do you believe in anything?" asked Bill innocently, "Without even a modicum of belief my words will fall on deaf ears." He studies each face carefully, "There is a book in the city library, a book of power. With that we can seal the split in reality and prevent more chaos creatures from passing through."

Leon let out a long deep breath and began pinching the bridge of his nose again “A book, our survival depends on a book now” he scoffed

"Frankly, this is among the best explanations yet for what has happened and what I've seen. I'm willing to take a leap of faith that Bill understands something we don't, even if we don't really understand him, either. Best case scenario? He's right and his solution is possible. Worst case scenarios: we waste some time or perhaps die..." responds Alyssa calmly. "And if I die in the attempt? Well, at least I died hopeful and doing what I could to end this nightmare. Spending the next 30 years bickering with you lot is not a really attractive option." she says with a trace of bitterness. For a moment her eyes become bright with unshed tears, quickly replaced by her usual composure.

"So Bill, how hard is it going to be to get this book and what do we have to do after that?"
