"You move on ahead, I'll make sure they follow. Hold up once you get inside, but leave room for us to follow. If you see anything that looks like the creature from the black lagoon, shoot it." With that said she started to head back down the ladder to get to the others.

"Not that I am being pedantic, but shoot it with what? A cleaver and a knife?" said Natasha with dripping sarcasm. "I'll follow Jack, but if you or the guys downstairs need me give a holler!"

Jack didn't catch the referance to 'the Black Lagoon', but decided not to push the matter. He might remember what that meant later on. For now he could only agre with Natasha about the shooting-part. Still, he was also fully aware that he didn't need a firearm to do damage to anyone. If the 'Black Lagoonites' had weapons of their own, however, things could get hairy. Or 'scaly', as the case might be. He crawled further in on the ledge, trying to find if there was a way forward, or if they had come, yet again, to a dead end.

Jessica was almost to the bottom when she shouted up "Just defend yourselves any way you can! Consider it an order!" Hopping down the last two rungs, she hefted her meat cleaver, ready to fend off any attackers.

the open space in front of jack extends a short way then stops in a wall standing up he begins to feel round the wall. your hand passes over what feel like lots of switches and hits a waist high table/counter. its all dark and you hear Natasha climbing up onto the ledge.
the ledge is high enough to stand up.
back at the bottom of the ladder Jessica can see out through the hatch. which as you do you can see long handles which will lock the hatch shut from the inside. you can see michele and dean both firing at the creatures one falls from the roof the other drops back to the wall badly hurt.
they raise there guns for another shot.

Jack tried not to scoff too hard at the superfluous 'order', then moved forward, and stood up when it became possible.
Feeling the the counter and the switches, Jack felt for one that might be a powerswitch of sorts; he wanted some light to see by, so he could make sense of what was around him.

plenty of the switches can be clicked up several are down and as you feel along you hand touches what feels like a big switch.

"Are you there Patch?" Natasha asked as she struggled to pull herself up to the ledge. The nickname just came to her, did she call him that before?

"Well, I'm here," Jack said, grinning to himself in the darkness, then said: "Hold on, I'm going to try something," then he flipped the big switch.

a pale light fills the top of the ladder room and of to the left where the counter is screens begin to flicker on.
looking round its a small room around ten foot long by five wide one side has a full bank of the screens and key boards, A door at the end is locked by latches firmly shut they look rusted. back towards the ladder which is very rusty indeed you see Natasha pulling her self on to the ledge. your hands are brown from the rust and looking at the ladder you see the top fixings are rusted through badly.

"The metal here doesn't look very healthy," said Natasha reaching the ledge. She wiped her hands on her clothes. "What the hell is this place it looks like some kind of security station?"

Blinking at the sudden light, and then looking at the surrounding rust, Jack once again had to wonder how old this place was, how long he had been here. Well, perhaps the screens could offer some help. He surveyed the various screens and keyboards, hoping something would leap out at him. 'Leap out' as in a thought, an idea; not a creature...
"Hard to say," he muttered, "but hopefully we'll find out soon. Could you check to see if that door would ever work again, or if we're stuck here?"

Jessica tapped Dean on the shoulder, shouting over the sound of gunfire. "Let's move! You've covered us enough. I think Jack and Natasha have found a way out!"

the door is cool to the touch and the other side of the door is quiet.
the screens seem to be loading as they settle down a bar is climbing five seats lower out of the consoles on long booms.
