Adam watched Janet as she entered the room. "So what now then?" he said quietly, "Now that the choice of company has branched out, I take it we won't be seeing much of each other will we, I doubt very much that you want to see me."

Janet's eyes flicked quickly to Adam and away again. "I don't hate you Adam" she said softly. "I don't want to hate you. There's too few people left now to be making enemies. Since you said you now accept that I had no willing part in.. what happened I have no reason to avoid you. I realise we hardly know each other but you seemed to be a decent person up till then". Janet paused, reflecting on unpleasant memories, fidgeting with the engagement ring she still wore. "But then, maybe my judgement isn't all that good" she continued. "I thought Don was a good man, but it seems I didn't know him at all even after sharing my life with him for so long".
