I have really been enjoying running this game so far. However, and making no judgements at all about reasons, so far we've had: Arothas drop out; Sandyin drop out; Gryff posts pretty rarely and very curtly; Quizzical posts not at all at the moment; Cearlan is very busy with rl stuff and doesn't have much time for posting. So the game comes down mostly to Scorch, Ghost and Currymaniac..... who are doing a great job.....
- I should say that I love the characterisation that has gone on and recently some stuff has been great.
-I am definitely not throwing a wobbly about "my game" being badly treated because I don't feel that at all.
-All I want to know is whether we are all cool to carry on. I tried to start a game that fitted player choice with regard to campaign style - even did some market research lol. But if I'm only keeping half of the folks involved then I guess I've messed up.
-I'm considering a couple of options:
a) A stricter -and non-judgemental - NPCing policy - if you give me no warning about being away I'll NPC you after 48 hours - if it happens a couple of times I'll advertise for someone else to take on the character.
b) Running another Traveller game for people who want to post maybe once a day and have a fast paced game for max 3 players. Like that I would leave Spinward Salvage as is and not worry about the pace at all.
I'd very much appreciate feedback if you have the time. To be honest I think I started a game with too many players...... awwww I don't know....

I have always been a fan of "fewer players" games, simply because they do tend to move faster. That being said, I want to stress and restress that I have no trouble with you NPC'ing Stettler. (Or any other CHR; but that is of course not my call). I have been able to be online more than I thought, in the last week, but I'm still on a lot less than my usual (which is probably good for me; I really need to cut down my Salroth-time some...
), and I don't want the game to move slower than it has to, because I don't get online. So, if that shows any sign of being the case, pick up the Doc and run with him.
For the aformentioned reasons, a more fasterpaced game wouldn't get any help form me being in it
Actually, for my current situation, S.S. is at a pretty much perfect pace
but I can see how that might not be the case for everyone. You do what you figure is best, "And damn the consequence!"
Or something.

I agree with Ghost, a few strong players generally equals a decent paced game. I pick choice a) and I think that it's perfectly reasonable.
It's not like NPC-ing does any serious damage to a character & it helps keep things moving.

Have to say I agree with the other two, stricter NPC policy would probably be best.
Must say I'm having great fun in this game, it's nice to play something different than I'm used to.

Three votes and me makes a decision! As of this moment Shraneal and Gryff are NPC'd until their players come back - in one week I will put them up for new players. Orthan gets longer because Cearlan has explained his loss of Salroth time. Jahrn is basically Arothas' long-term NPC & I'll give him as long as he needs or until Jahrn can go back to his own life whichever comes sooner.
This game will go on at the pace that has been set and I hope everyone can post once in every 48 hours - if I don't then you can all NPC me!
I will give serious consideration to a short, fast-paced Traveller game for perhaps 2-3 players & players who keep posting in this game will get first refusal on places if it ever goes ahead.
Cheers for the feedback guys and let's try to get this cutter up out of the rift and the plot moved along a bit as soon as we can.

Good call.
Sorry for my lack of participation, but like the man says - real life sometimes has to be the priority.
That being said I shall be posting - all things being equal - on a more rgular basis now (fingers crossed)

Sorry if Scorch and I are hogging things, I think we are both trying to find our characters feet, so to speak!

Ladies and Genteel men
It is with heavy heart that I have had to pull out of this game ... and it in neither a refelction on the game, the system, and certainly not the players or Kropotkin. All of which have been a pleasure to sail the heavens with.
Unfortunately real-life has intervened once more and something had to give. The two games I am playing in being the things to make way.
To Kropotkin - Thank you my friend - I enjoyed the game - and like your style of play.
To the gang - Thanks to you all - you made the game what it is, superb roleplaying fron one and all!
See you all around!

Welcome De, and thanks for the kind words Cearlan.
There should be no talk of people hogging the game. For what it's worth Scorch and Fury's little bit of characterisation has been much appreciated by the ref and I hope by the other players as well. We now have what I consider well portrayed characters in the Captain, the Doctor, the marine and the engineer. I'm sure that De will kick in with some good stuff for Orthan and today Shraneal will go on offer to the wider public.
What I have always wanted for this game is lots of characterisation to go with - hopefully - an interesting storyline......
I just heard back from a literary agent who had read the first 6 chapters of my sci fi novel - he had not very many words of encouragement, but I'm trying to hold my head up and press on with my life. lol. I will take no inconsiderable solace if, together, we can tell a ripping good tale here on Salroth!
