Plaudits to the three of you guys for the way you handled the situation in engineering........ nice drama! I have nothing to add in the thread on that, but I wanted to chip in just to say: cool!

Kudos to Ghosts way with words, defused the situation strangely well.

In this particular instance, I would say "It takes three to tango"
But thank you very much! (Though I suppose it was my 'way with words' that got us into this mess in the first place

I can only speak for myself, but I can't say I have a problem with 'lurkers' giving praise
(I'm not sure how I'd feel if the opposite happened, though: "Hi, players of Spinwards Salvage. I realize it's not my place to say this but, I will. I'll do it, because I care about this hobby, and you clearly don't. What the h*ll are you DOING in this game? You all suck, you can't write for shit, and you DM is completely wasted on you. I hope you die. And not only in the game.
Love JeeD"

Okay guys, I'm sorry things have slowed down a little, but I'd like to kick on again in the next few days. So, here's my thinking: we'll move very rapidly through the rest of the night-cycle, giving the Doctor his results and keeping our fingers crossed he makes the climb back to the ship unharmed....... after that, new day and on with the story.
It was my initial feeling that the ship would be out of the rift quite rapidly in the current thread, but loads of other stuff happened, and in fact Finian's decision to stay did mean that the corsair had time to move away.... apparently with the naval vessel...... But now, I really do want to get to the moment of lift-off. I shan't force the issue, but that's my feeling. ONce you're up again everyone will be back in the action and, oh yes, there's some more stuff that might become apparent.
So, feel free to do your own things, but that's my own feeling about how we should look to handle the tempo of the game now. This ain't going to be a long night.....not in real time anyway. As always, very happy to discuss this and any other aspect of the game here.

One the one hand I think the doctor would have a better chance of figuring out a thing or to given some time onboard the cutter, but I totally understand that it would be extremely 'gamekilling' for me to play around down there while everybody else is stuck in sleepmode.
Now, as for taking off, to be honest I think (and the doctor shares my opinion
) that we are better off down in the rift at present while we try and work this thing out, simply because of the vague hinting from the imperials that they might board our vessel (and if we tell them there is an alien parasite onboard they would either blow us to smithereens because we're contagious (OR because we know too much!), or they would laugh and say that they've heard alot of excuses from smugglers but this one takes the cake... Either way, them boarding us would in all likelihood be a disaster, parasite-spreadingwise... Same goes for us being boarded by pirates.

Sorry ghost, but alas paranoia is a cruel mistress!
I must say I foresee a mutiny when the crew learns what the captain has done, unless of course he pretends that you wanted to stay down there....mhhhh....

It seems fair enough to move things on a little.
I have had gryff wake up as I would have though for all her career she's worked as an engineer, the feel of the engines starting from them stopped would awaken her. Hope that doesn't tread on anyones toes.

Seriously, I think it's brilliant! Besides, let's face it; from a medical point of view, it may well be the best thing to do. Provided you jettison the woman as well

Quick question: is the cutter being towed? Or left behind? Because I suppose the doctor WOULD notice if the ship suddenly begins to move.
As for a purging-system for the medbay, that sounds rather... specialized. But, I guess the bossman is the one to answer that.

I guess all the technical questions are answered now.
So the Doctor's not being stranded.......... just pulled along behind the ship as if he's been sent to the naughty corner. I think the cutter might just be worth a little too much for Finian to leave behind....... I just need to mention again, that it is in fact worth a fortune, especially to a man with a ship mortgage to pay and to a crew mostly a little short of funds.
btw - Fury waking up is absolutely fine; as is Jack sleeping. Frankly, the engineer would probably wake up if a switch was flicked in engineering, and jack, well Jack has slept through worse, planetary bombardment, assault from orbit........ I guess most marines learn to sleep when and where they need.
