It all began to happen before Mark in slow motion. He knew what was happening but he helpless to intervene. His legs felt like lead, he willed himself to dive forward and grab Scout but it was already too late. "No...", the words escaped his lips as a whisper as the stones began to fall. It was a quick death, but not a good death. Mark barely even noticed Mylor appear behind him, stubbornly believing Scout was alive and just needed help. There was half a boot and ripped material peeking out of the rubble, "Just hang on Scout! I'll get you out of there!" He shouted, adamant that he would not lose another that he was sent to save. Desperately he threw rocks off the pile, trying so hard to uncover at least a shred of life under there. The rumble shook his bones as the tunnel behind them began to cave in.
It was then he felt Mylor's hand rest on his shoulder, glancing back he instantly knew what the mage was about to do and the look in Mark's eyes was one of major disagreement. He heard the last words of the incantation and tried to pull away, reaching out a hand back towards Scout. Mylor's grip turned vice-like and the Warlock was unable to resist. Mark began to yell out as the world around him began to twist and distort. As they appeared in the temple Mylor's grip quickly released, sending Mark stumbling forwards. "Damn it! Damn it all! I could have saved him!", he slammed a fist into a table causing it to splinter. He rubbed the back of a bloody, dusty hand across his sweaty forehead as he stooped over. His other hand causing the dry wood to smoke and blacken as it funnels his fustration. "Damn it..." He muttered under his breath, coming to realise that what was done was done.
He spun around and slumped onto a bench seat, quickly undoing his bracers and letting them fall with a clang onto the cold flagstones. It was then he noticed Valas standing there to one side, the warlock nodded towards him in acknowledgement.
So you're not dead after all dark one...a devil's luck harbors within you.
Mark took another deep breath, looking around the ensemble that was gathered in the temple, wondering how many had fallen to the drow in his absence. "Mylor, do we still hold the bridges? What news is there of the enemy?" He asks, expecting the bad news to outweigh the good.

"We still hold the bridges. The dark elves have halted their advance for now, it seems they are focusing their assault on the elves of Oak Island. That old racial hatred between the two is kicking in I supposes. I wish we could do something to help but we have ours hands full whit all the undead they brought whit them, they seem content to just wander around attacking the living on sigh instead of the coordinate assault we were dealing whit at first. It seems the dark elves are no longer directly controlling the undead letting them serve as a wall stopping us from going to the aid of the elves instead. So far it seems the elves are holding their own using some ancient magic that surrounds that island that even I did not know about." answer Mylor
"The good news is that a messenger came from the north a few hours ago. The slavers coming from the north have been intercepted by a legion of the kings men and after they have been dealt whit the kings troops plan to come down and help us reclaim the other half of the city."
"The bad news is that our city is not the only one under attack, reports of battles whit the drow are coming from all over. In order to investigate this further I summoned a lesser demon and questioned it. What it had to say is most disturbing, it seems there is a rumor going about the abyss that Loth is planning to come to the material plane to lead the drow into a conquest of the surface! How much this is true I do not know but it seems the drow believe it and have gone into a frenzy, they are preparing for an all out invasion." he sits down seeming tired.
''I'm getting too old for this, cant an old man enjoy his retirement?" he says taking out a pipe.
"Well my work isn't done yet, after I've had a rest I must prepare for when we retake the city. You should all have a rest as well, there will be more fighting soon." he says lighting his pipe and taking a puff.

Mark nods, "The assault is on a much larger scale than we previously hoped. Once the city is retaken I'm sure the big picture will be a lot clearer." The warlock also gets out his own pipe, glad to finally have the time for a smoke. "From now on I will offer my services at no cost, assuming I am to be paid for fulfilling my most recent contract. I am now employed by my own sense of duty. If the rumors are true and Lolth threatens this entire land, it would not be just to ask for further payment given these newest developments." He proceeds to light his own pipe and loosen his armor.

Zudd was shocked by what he had heard, drow and the undead unleashing chaos in the area. He hoped they had the resources to help bring back civilazation as he knew it.
"What is our first order, once we have rested. Are we to save the city or send a strike force to help the elves?" He said looking at the rest of the party, he was still shaken at loosing Scout so easily.

''Mmmm yes, I can take care of matters here perhaps it would be wise to lend a hand to the elves. After you have rested you can go to the shipyard and take a boat to the island and see what you can do over there. What do you say?'' says Mylor.

"Aye, lets seek revenge on the Drow and help the Elves in their fight for freedom." Zudd yelled waving his double axe in the air. " I am thirst for vengence and they shall feel my wrath."

''Aghh would you stop shouting...It hurts my hears. Yes, yes I am saddened by the death of those that went in that accursed trap as well but there little we can do except save those we can." says Mylor
