"Heavy thoughts?" Hayden said as he poured himself a cup from the machine, "I never did like these things, food and drink should not come out of the same place, even if their destination is the same." He felt somewhat awkward around Ophelia, unlike her he had not really been directly affected by this, sure, he was out a few bob due to his last job going belly up, but they hadn't gotten his friends, which he supposed, was one of the few advantages of not really having any.

"Pretty much" replied Ophelia. "At least this machine has good stuff, not like you get in the Stack. I was just thinking it might have been better to go after Hopton straight away. I don't know if I'll be able to.. you know, kill him if we wait too long, but then.. what he did to Sally..." Ophelia sipped her coffee again. "You were the one brought Sally to Joe's weren't you? Were you with her when she got hit? I was wondering if you could tell me more about what happened".

"There isn't much to say," Hayden said, though maybe there wasn't much he wanted to say would have been closer to the truth, "I think she'd just been mugged, I helped her to her feet and we were walking towards the shuttle when there was a flash and whatever type of gun it was that did this number syndrome had got her. Came from up on a roof, but I wasn't able to see anyone."

"Mugged? Are you sure? That doesn't seem like Sally" replied Ophelia. "I can only assume she was coming to see me, she was my contact with my former life, but we hadn't arranged to meet. It was right before this thing with Hopton blew up and I've been wondering if she'd been coming to warn me about something". Ophelia felt guilty if that had been the case, maybe it wouldn't have happened if she hadn't been where she was.. but then, Hopton had said that she had been deliberately targeted... "The thing is, Sally was used to moving around those kind of areas, she knew how to watch out for herself. That's why I'm really surprised to hear she got mugged, are you sure about that? Another thing, and I only just thought of it, you said you saw a flash from a rooftop but Hopton said Sally was deliberately targeted. That implies that the gunman knew where she was going to be and was waiting for her. That worries me, anything you can tell me might be useful right about now".

Fi spends a few minutes toying with the food machine. After getting to produce a reasonable hot chocolate, she heads to one of the bunks. Putting the cup down, Fi strips off and climbs under the covers. As your conversation rolls on, she gets up after finishing the drink to go answer the call of nature. You catch her muttering about Damned tailors. Half a job.

"I'm afraid that that is all that I can tell you, I was only passing, so I only caught the tail end of things." Hayden felt slightly bad about lieing to Ophelia, about not telling her that Sally had taken a different route than he was used to when she was targeted, infected, whatever it was.

"Oh well, it was worth asking" sighed Ophelia. "I wonder though, if she was coming to see me she was taking a strange route. She knew where to find me so why was she all the way out there? I wonder if she knew she was being.. watched? and was trying to dislodge anyone who might be following her before coming to warn me". It was bad not knowing why Sally had been out. There had been no arrangement for a meeting and if she had indeed been trying to get to her it must have been really important.

[color=#6666CC;]"I can always sleep in there with the others if I am going to be a bother,"[/color] she played with her fingernails her eyes on the ground. She was afraid to look into Adams face incase she saw something she didn't want to.

Adam's room is cramped and the lower bunk bed wasn't exactly designed for two. The alarm clock glued to the wall shows a small hologram of the time. It's the small hours, both of you must have nodded off at some point.

"You're not bother," Adam says. His arm is still wrapped around Cass. "But I might be. I gotta get up early to help Eve with one of the data engines. Trent'll be back from top side soon and he snores." He smiles in the semi-darkness. "You better go. Get a good night's kip if you can."

Cass struggled to get off the bunk gracefully, and failed miserably in her attempt. Picking up her disguarded boots she leant over and gave him a soft chaste kiss on the lips. [color=#6666CC;]"Thank you for reminding me what it means to be human, "[/color] leaves to creep into the room with the others.

"Maybe," Hayden said non-commitally, "I mean it's certainly possible, but why would anyone want to watch her? Can you think of any reasons?" Hayden felt he was somewhat starting to regret his business policy of not asking too many questions, after all had he been a proponent of what had happened?

"She was my friend, my only contact with the life I led.. before" replied Ophelia. "She was keeping watch so she could let me know if anyone suspected I was still alive. We had regular scheduled meetings, but if she found out something she might have decided I needed to know right away. It's the only reason I can think of for her being where she was, but not that particular location. If she did find out something important someone might have discovered that and had her followed. Someone like Hopton". Hopton was at the center of this she just knew. It strengthened her resolve, he must be taken down at all cost.

The conversation slows to a natural stop and you feel it is time to turn in. Fi turns off the light after she returns from the loo - again.
