Alana sat on the reedy bank, pointing a shaking finger at the waterline where the giant frog came from. "It...it almost ate me. I'm going to have nightmares about that for the rest of my life!" She pushed wet hair from her eyes and trembled a little, the image of the giant frog's tongue trying to pull her into it's gaping maw still fresh in her mind.

She blinked a few times and shook it off, getting to her feet and stomping some mud off of the bottom of her boots. "I'm Alana stranger, thanks for the timely javelin throw." She checked herself for injuries, but saw nothing other than some frog slobber that she would want to wipe off when she got the chance. "Hex, I think I'm alright. Just a bit shaken up, but you'd be too if you were almost a frog snack."

Hextor was glad to hear she was okay. A little grubby but nothing a nice warm bath wouldn't fix! He doubted they would she would get a chance for a while yet though.

While he waited for a response or the others to chat he looked around the surrounding area for anything out of the ordinary or perhaps a way in.

The path leads to a rotten, slightly bowed drawbridge that crosses the water. Four new planks lie atop the rotted wood

Sven attempts to lead the path over the drawbridge using the fresh planks.

Jerach surveyed the group. Yes, he was quite certain...

"Sure, why not?" Jerach formed his mouth into a hearty smile as he spoke to Hextor. Strange name, that.

On the other side of the drawbridge are two gates leading into the moathouse. One stands open, and the other lies on the ground.

The wide courtyard is paved in cobblestones, although over the years grass and weeds have grown throughout the area. Rubble from the collapsed wall and destroyed upper story still litter the open space. A brown smear spreads across the middle of the courtyard, up the stairs, and into the open doorway at their top. A curved dagger lies near where the smear begins.

as you enter, you also see a tower just off to your left and behind you when you look around.

Saxon came behind the group. " Don't you think it is kind of strange that this drawbridge has fresh planks on it? That means intelligence is afoot. So be wary."

Sven heads over to the beginning of the brown smear. There's a look of disgust on his face as he crouches down and wipes a finger through the smear, before bringing it up to his nose and sniffing it. Rubbing the substance off onto his arm, he grabs up the dagger and holds it in the air to catch the light. "I don't even wanna know what made this sludge. Maybe a giant slug to go with the giant frog." He pondered to the others.

Alana eyed the dagger and smear stain. "That's blood in the middle of the courtyard. What's been going on here?" She motioned for everyone to stay put and moved around the courtyard, sticking to the walls and whatever cover she could find as she went. There was somethign very wrong here, and she wanted to see what evil was waiting for them before they lumbered into it.

Is the open doorway with the blood trail the only other exit to the courtyard? Apart from the gates we just entered through.

Sorry, bad choice of words. I know I'm standing in the center of the courtyard now, just wondering where I can go from there. Other than backtracking, is the open doorway the only available route onwards?

He chants softly and makes and arcane gestures and there is a slight glow as he is surrounded by a mage's armor.
