Taern sat staring at the box. A few steps aside, and he'd just happened to choose her table. Maybe it was because there were three of them at this one, while all the others were empty or had only one patron. Maybe he'd meant it for her...or maybe not. Still her hand trembled slightly as she reached out to touch the box, almost afraid it would burn her -- that had happened before, a holy box -- but surely this was safe...

She slid the box across the table, then looked to first Tanner, then Ebfelm. "No guts no glory?" she said with a weak smile, and she opened it. Someone had to, after all. "What was it that he said about the map? I have a feeling it's important. Someone should write that down, or we'll never remember. Something about a portion of silver, and red eyes..."

She barely controlled the shudder that threatened to race down her spine as she looked into the box. "At least the storm has quit..." From the box she pulled a pair of lenses and a note, which she read quickly before tossing it onto the table for anyone else to read and laying her face in one hand, elbow propped on the table, the very picture of exasperation.

"Riddles. What is with all the riddles? I'm afraid to even read this hellsent one aloud!"

Spoiler! Highlight the box below to view the hidden text.
The note reads this: "Call the one with 3 eyes Shakar, yet to speak his name twice shall kill us"

Bredak goes over to the table and picks up the purple gem, pocketing it, then walks over to see what was inside the box.

Ebflem averted his gaze as Taern looked at his face, his scars where a disgrace to him, he hated the way women looked at his cruelly disfigured face. "Do not mistake me, I would not fly through a dragons domain freely, however I may fly very low to the ground, or just as close to the wall of a cliff, so as to fly but not to be known to be doing so."

He then turned to face the box and said nothing more, very much undisturbed by the show of force from the being, it was clear that he could destroy them all of he tried, yet he needed them. His outbursts were simply that outbursts of a child upset because he was questioned. "I wonder what will happen the next time Bredak asks for reward, or we question him." he chortled.

Logen hadn't flinched when the chair came flying at him, but that wasn't on his mind right now.
"Logen, keep soiling the memory of your wife with these spirits, and maybe I shall realize her screams were in vain"
The words echoed through his mind! Over and over! Again and again! His face was washed clear of any emotion.
"Screams were in vain... Screams were in vain... Screams were in vain... "
His mind raced so fast he couldn't make out a clear thought.
Wife, soil, why, who could he, Quai, sword, ale, how did he, death, fight, war, who, dead?
His mind started to calm down just as the man vanished.
Logen watched as the female human flipped open the box and the male human snatched up the purple gem.
Slowly, his mind started to focus on the events that had just happened.
So a note and a pair of lens were inside the box? Obviously they were clues for their up coming adventure. What peaked his interest more though was why did the male human choose the gem?
He voiced his curiosity.
"So why the purple gem?"

Tanner looked quickly down, all these strangers suddenly being very loud had frightened him. He reached down and grabbed his quarter staff. He then reached out and stroked William's head for reassurance.

"My friends, this is the beginning of the shift in balance, we need to work together, I will support this endeaver with my life, so you can bet I will be looking for you to do the same." Tanner stated still stroking the dire badger.

"I don't know if it is wise for us to know to much about each other, for if we are ever captured we might hurt the others. But it is as plain as the badger in this room that I am a druid and once out in the open, my courage will show through."

Taern smiled at Tanner, but some of what he said made sense. And, unfortunately, she had to speak up. "That really depends on who we are captured by. I must be honest from the beginning..." she takes a deep breath and her eyes search the rest of her gathered comrades. "This--" she touches the symbol on her forehead. "--was made by Bahamut, for grievous sins already committed. His followers will kill me on sight, if they can, and will try most likely even if they can't. You all are in danger simply by traveling with me." She shakes her head, a grimace clouding her features. "He is not a forgiving God, and aiding one He has marked as evil will only earn you all the same fate. So perhaps it's better to avoid capture at all. I would prefer to wound or kill as few of the good people of the world as I can."

There, that was out in the open, now she steeled herself to the core against the questions...what could someone like her have done to earn such a punishment? Why was she still alive? And why Pelor? She looked down at her hands and was surprised, almost, to find them clean. No blood. That was behind her. If she was steel to the core, why did she quiver so on the inside?

" We are all in danger anyway, whether we travel with you or not, for the balance has shifted and all non dragons are endanger of being made servants. I come freely into this friendship and I will protect you as best as I can. Tanner said looking at Taern for the first time since they first met.

Nailo laughed "I have no friends. I will travel whit you and fight alongside you for now but know that I will never trust you and I don't expect you to trust me either. As for the dragons I wish them all dead I have no preference except for one particular dragon who's head I would like to take, a certain red...Unfortunately that one will not prove such easy prey as a wyrmling still in its egg.''

A soft night breeze carried in the fresh air of the hills inside, cleaning the stale air as if the room had been shut for many moons.

The awkwardly empty main room, besides the group, started loosing light as the candles slowly died out, announcing the time for sleep. Your bodies agreeing with the candles as a yawn forced itself from a few lips.

The black crystal and the blend gold ring laying, as dead, on one of the table, the lenses box sitting on the other table where most of the group had joined.

Information had been given, but how would it be used was up to them. They also had a deadline, by which they needed to be back with the prize, or face failure.

With this box as their guide, along with the few hints given at the price of intelligence, the group was starting to somewhat need some rest. Much had happened the last weeks, and much more was to come.

OOC said:

In 24 hours I will consider the night over and the next morning starting. Talk as you wish between yourselves, I'll start the next day considering you got enough sleep to be in good shape.

He liked the color purple? Interesting, Logen thought to himself, so did he!
"Perhaps we all have something more in common then just liking the color purple..."
He listened to the others chat.
A druid. He seemed quite confident in his skills with nature. A bit eccentric yet somehow, he seemed to Logen that he fitted the perfect picture of a druid. He hadn't had the pleasure of meeting one before. The druid also seemed to be able to communicate with the badger! Lucky he hadn't squash it!
The female... Warrior he figured he could describe her as, also seemed quite confident in her skills. Logen knew what it was like to have a mark on your head. Always the center of attention.
The grey elf. He wanted a dragons head on the end of his weapon. Perhaps he would get that chance on this journey. He would need everyone's help with that task though. Somehow Logen figure being nice would help the others with his task.
Addressing all in the room, he nodded his head, "Logen Lex is my name."

Nailo goes over to the table, reads the note and takes a look at the content of the box. "How amusing, he wants us to complete a task and yet rather than give us a precise answer he gives us riddles. A test maybe? Or someone who doesn't care if we succeed or die.'' he says

''I am Nailo and that cat over there is my companion Ali (means shadow in elvish according to source I found on google), I called him that cause he always follows me around. Also i'm afraid I have no Idea what to make of any of these things but I suspect the answer will come as we travel unless one of you can make anything of all this?"

She'd watched carefully all of the emotions that ran across the drunks face when the man had spoke of his wife, watched the woman speak of being marked and she could tell, by the expressions she tried to hide, the warrior woman had conflicts inside. She sat back and watched, quiet until someone addressed her directly.

"We all have talents, but do we really want to wait to the last minute to find out what we can do, come let us gather round this table and speak. We need to figure out how to get to where we need to go as well. " Tanner slowly turned to the others in the room, hoping they would all unite and act as a team for their future depended on it.

"Yes, a bit of brainstorming could be good before bed."
Walking over to the table, he had sobered up quite a bit and wasn't knocking things over anymore, he sunk into an empty spot. Glancing down at the note, he took a second to read quietly first then aloud. Things sounded different when said aloud of in your mind.
"Call the one with 3 eyes Sh..." He had a feeling he didn't quite want to say that name out aloud just yet, "yet to speak his name twice shall kill us" Glancing around the table he wanted to note the others emotions, to see if anything sparked ideas.
"So I guess we need to find this three eyed person, call him his name and then the path shall open?" The last part was easy to understand, he hoped, "And I guess we don't use that name twice. Perhaps he doesn't like his name and it angers him when people use it too loosely!" He let out a little chuckle.
Picking up the lens he fumbled them around his huge hands trying not to crush them.
They were way to small for him to put on. "Maybe one of you should try them on. The note may change, or there might be something about the box it all came in."
