The library was quite empty at this time of day. Late afternoon. Most people were out on the lawns, enjoying the warm sun. The city of Opal had seen some wonderful weather over the last few months, but it seemed to be getting hotter and hotter. It was getting more and more humid within the library as the day past.
A few drops of sweat drip from your forehead.
The Lady had actually visited the city this month. She was staying not to far from the library. A whole regiment of soldiers guarded her quarters, a constant watch was kept.
She could be seen frequently at the restaurant Camillia Grotto. A very posh restaurant indeed. It was surrounded by lush gardens with ever flowing fountains. The gardens helped to seclude each table, allowing ample privacy for each patron.
You turn to the next page of the book you are studying. A grimoir on Opal's long dead generals. You are searching for some information on one in particular.
Lord Graendithas.
He was known to have special abilities. You knew his abilities for what it was, magic! 200 years ago he had suddenly disappeared. Everyone thought him dead. His wife, children and family wept. They were certain he wouldn't return. Was he kidnapped? Murdered?
You were looking for any kind of information you could!
"It's in here I tell you!"
The shout awakens you from your deep concentration.
Two very old men stand a few stalls away, leaning over a huge book bickering and shoving each other. It was clear they weren't going to quieten any time soon. If anything, they seemed to be getting louder and louder with each shove.
"It isn't!" Shove.
"IT IS!" Shove.
They were both very short. One had an eye patch over one eye and wore a black felt hat. The other one was ugly. There was no other way to describe him. He must have been the ugliest person you have ever seen!
"IT ISN'T! And DON"T shove me AGAIN!" Shove!
"IT IS!" He shoves the man with the hat.
"I told you not to shove me again..."
"So you admit it's in here then!"
"I never said that!"
"But you didn't say otherwise!"
"You idiot!
"It is, I tell you it is!"
"Your a liar..." The man with the hat stars at the ugly one. A sinister look creeps across his face.
Small tendrils of smoke start to appear. More and more. Suddenly the very ugly one starts jumping up and down, smacking his own bum! The smoke is coming from his trousers!
If the fire spreads, the whole library could burn down!
And with it, any information on Lord Graendithas!

"Whoa, stop, HEY STOP I SAID!" Crow yells when he realizes that the two weren't gonna and something bad may happen, and continues to yell, "IF YOU WOULD JUST STOP FOR A BIT, I MAY BE ABLE TO HELP YOU, INSTEAD OF YOU TWO BURNING THIS PLACE TO THE GROUND AND ALL THE STUFF IS LOST, INCLUDING THE INFORMATION YOU ARE LOOKING FOR." Crow then looks sheepish for losing his temper at 2 complete strangers.

It was if time stood still for a second. Both of the old men froze, unaware someone else had even been there. They both turned, slowly and faced Crow. The smoke had mysteriously disappeared from the ugly mans pants.
"Help us? What could YOU possibly help us with! Bet you can't even read this book!" Screeched the ugly one.
The one with the hat and eye patch just stared at Crow. His gaze seeming to penetrate Crow's mind.

"Look, sorry for yelling at you, but the library here is my favorite place, and well....I really didn't want to see anything bad happen to it. If you will kindly let me see the book, i might be able too help you with it, i'm not promising any guarantees mind you, but it won't hurt to let me see for a few seconds if i can." Crow says, still sheepishly and embarrassed by yelling at 2 strangers.

The one with the hat and eye patch continued to star at Crow. A few moments passed.
"Very well, here." The one with the hat and eye patch said as he pushed the huge book towards Crow.
The book was indeed huge. Square, at least a meter across. The paper was all yellow with age. The text was a dark color. Not black but not blue either. The words seemed to swarm across the page.
"If you can read it then I shall tell you what we are after."

"I must warn you, at a first glance, i may not be able too, might take a little time to properly wording in this." Crow says as he sits down at a table near those too and starts studying the book.

The two strangers just stared at Crow. A surprised look on both of their faces.
"How old did you say you were?"
"Never mind his age! How could he read the book!" The ugly one screeched!
"That's why i asked him! He looks too young to be able to read the text!"
Both strangers looked at crow then walked around the table and stood either side of him. The bent down towards the large book.
"Okay, okay, okay! See if you can spot the word 'malodor'..."

OOCMake a spot check please.

OOCYou find the word deep in the middle of the page. You may make another decipher script check if you wish to read the text out to them.

Also wasn't sure how to approach that. Should I have not told you and waited for you to ask or did I do the right thing?

"He found it! See i told you it was in here!" The ugly one screeched! He shoved Crow aside and lent over the large book. He started to giggle. A mischievous look crawled into his eyes.
"So, what's your name lad and what are you doing in here on such a fine day?" The other one asked crow.
the ugly one simply continued to giggle as he read through the section Crow had pointed out.

"Well, i call myself Crow, and as to why i'm in here, i'm more interested in these books than all that big to do with the Lady here, and well, i decided to read up on a person i was interested in. What bout you and the other guy, what are you names, and well, what brings you to my library, even thought it's not mine technically." Crow asks him.

"The ugly one is Goblin, I'm One-Eye. Wonderful to meet someone still interested in the...umm... Let's just say, the "Finer Arts". We were looking for a recipe, which you have gratefully found for us. There lies another recipe we seek. Not here though. Now, who did you learn magic under? No need to hide it. The book you read from is magic itself. Someone with out the gift can not possibly read from it."
One-Eye stood back a little to take crow all in, measure him up a little.

"I rather not say, the thought of him brings up bad memories of his death. But you two gentleman, maybe i can help you with your other recipe if ya want, if you know where it is that is." Crow says with a slight downfallen look on his face at tthe thought of his teacher and mentor.
