[color=#6666CC;]"It's my party...I can do what I want,"[/color] her tone was only slightly joking as she pulled herself inside wearily. A couple more steps and she flopped on the bed, shivering with exhaustion.

"I understand," Aaron said, his voice quiet as he sat down next to the bed. "Still, some manner of aknowledgement might be in order; making the Prince feel 'put out' isn't good for relations. And him being a Toreador, he might get it into his head to be all jealous. And jealous Torrie Princes... well, there are better enemies to have. Of course, for all I know, Varna or Sharna might be tending to the other guests, but it does sound a little quiet out there."

Jez rolls her eyes, [color=#6666CC;]"You were always the sensible one, hang on. "[/color] She closes her eyes and is still and Aaron hears Jez speaking outside. [color=#6666CC;]"Thank you all for your care and support in my time of need. But my enforced wakening had exhausted me, I need to rest. Please enjoy the freedom of the camp and celebrate the dispatching of a beast. I will catch up with you all after I have rested. "[/color] There is the sound of a door closing and applause from outside, Jez opens her eyes once more. [color=#6666CC;]"There satisfied?, oh protector of my health and honour."[/color] She smiles but it doesn't reach her eyes.

"Well, 'always leave them wanting more', a buddy of mine once said," he said with a smile, taking hold of Jessie's hand. "I suppose that's as good a tip as any, whether you're into rock and roll, or sanguination." The smile died away, and he continued: "As for plans... I don't have many of those. I want o try and catch up with Ahmed before he leaves the isle; maybe Sally knows something about him. Where he's staying, etc. I'm thinking, an old and experienced hunter like that might know something about my own quarry... Or the quarry of my big friend, lugging about in Europe somewhere. Kane offered to help me... although I'm not entirely sure I'd want to be in that man's debt."

"You have the truth of it," Aaron said, a sad look on his face. "But, we have time on our side; chances are we will run into eachother again. London has a special place in my heart." Moving closer to Jessie, he added: "As have you..." Stroking her cheek as gently as his rather coarse fingers would allow, Aaron leaned in and kissed her gently on the lips.

The tears started to flow once more as he kissed her, [color=#6666CC;]"If only I could wash you from my heart....I will wait for you, you know. "[/color] She buries her head against his chest, [color=#6666CC;]"the place in my bed will be reserved for you,"[/color] she whispered.

"That is such a shameful waste of a beautiful space," Aaron whispered; "you really ought to play with the other children, too..."

She looks at him with wide eyes, [color=#6666CC;]"Are you telling me that anger and jealousy does not rise in you at gossip of my exploits? I want to reassure you that it will be just that...gossip."[/color] Her eyes take on a far away look as she adds, [color=#6666CC;]"It is hard to believe that I can and have been true to you when you have seen the effect of my bite,"[/color] shaking her head slightly she whispers [color=#6666CC;]"Can you promise me you will come back and see me sometime? "[/color]

"Thinking of you with others is no favorite passtime, to be sure," Aaron said, a smile of admitance on his lips. "But for me to expect that you be less than you are, for you to enjoy your existence less than you could, for you to live in restaint and against your nature, because I have somehow 'claimed you'... That would be wrong. As you would not clip my wings, I would not clip yours." He stroked her hair in the near darkness fo the caravan, finding her eyes with his. "If Death doesn't claim me for her own, I'll come back. But I can't tell you when..."

[color=#6666CC;]"The promise that you will return is enough for me, I don't wish to pin you to timetables and calanders."[/color] She cuddled in closer to him, [color=#6666CC;]"Now enough talking, kiss me, remind me what it feel to be alive."[/color]

He did as she bid, wrapping his arms around her, flooding blood to the upper layer of his skin, to make himself feel warm against her. He himself was no fan of the delusion of life; he was dead, and that was fact; leave it to the Toreadors to cling to life and humantiy. But if it was what she wanted, it was a little thing, and a gift easily given.

She lay her head against him and was still, her arms clung to him. [color=#6666CC;]"Will you stay with me today...please? I will feel better after a days rest and feel stronger to let you go"[/color]

"I need to try and find the Assamite before he leaves. That isn't to say I'm leaving town tonight. But I have to try and intercept him before he takes his jet or yacht or whatever he travels the world by..."
