You've all been tasked whit protecting a small caravan consisting of three wagons, the first containing the servants of the baron's son, the second containing the baron's son and a young lady he brought whit him and the third containing gold, clothing and other items he felt he needed for the trip.

You've been traveling for two days and its been completely uneventful. Not surprising bandits and wild beast usually avoid groups of around forty armed men, Elves and Dwarves traveling through the forest.

At the current rate you'll reach the city of Four-winds tomorrow around midday (If you stop to make camp for the nigh). Then you'll be free to go about the merchant city for a few days while the baron's son does whatever it is he came here to do and then you get to escort him back to the city of Blackwall.

Drae was walking casually as she always did through the forest, at her side stood moon-claw her bear and alonside her was one of her rangers, a particularly handsome young elf, as she walked - keeping the caravan in sight at all times - she could not help but remark to him "how fickle these humans are, constantly fighting among themselves, destroying the forests the gods have laid out for them, if only they realize that if they were properly shaped and directed the entire world would benefit so much more." Her voice was cheerful but quiet, long years of experience had taught her that true peace only meant your enemies were taking a break.

Owen and his men took the right flank, all had their bows out except for the cleric who was there to cast bless. "Keep your eyes open, I don't want it reported that it was our flank that was hit" he instructed to his men.

Naka and his men trotted along a short distance ahead of the caravan. The young warrior took in a deep breath, the fresh air invigorating him before he spoke. "Form up on me!" He called out, the soldiers under his command moving up next to him immediately. Naka spoke again, quieter now, though loud enough for his men to hear him. "I realise this is the first time out on a mission for some of you, but don't let that scare you. If you remember your training and heed my words, you'll be just fine. Now, the baron's son is of utmost importance. Should anything endanger the caravan, form up on me and follow my lead."

He slid off his helm before continuing, "We all represent our Lord, do not shame him in any way. Lead by example, Taiki's men will be renowned for their skill and professionalism." Without any encouragement his men replied in unison, "Sir!" With a nod from Nakashima they fell back into position, guarding the head of the caravan.

Naka hadn't spoken to any other members of the caravan, aside from his own men. Not through disrespect or rudeness, simply because he had remained quite introverted - focussing instead on keeping his weapon training fresh and studiously examining tactical scrolls.

When you are weak, appear strong. Not that they were really in a weak position.

Arothas trudged along with his men, shield in hand and sword loose in the sheath. Some would call him paranoid, but he considered himself cautious. His men stood in simple formation, and even though they might be tired they hid it. From the outside, they appeared like steel, even the Wizard who's name he'd forgotten again... Some northerner named Gwühir, or Gwâhur, or something strange like that.

His men were well trained, and though he commanded few of the soldiers in the caravan, their posturing would more than make up for it for any bandit scouts checking out the area. The men, two armed with longbows and another two armed with spears and heavy steel shields carrying the sign of the Golden Falcon, as well as said Wizard, who was quite obviously what he was, in heavy robes, a conical hat, and holding some sort of staff. Arothas hadn't bothered to check out if it was enchanted, really; the northerner Wizard really was the newest in his little group of well trained and thoroughly disciplined men.

They were walking along the left flank, at a moment prepared to enter a more effective fighting formation, where the two spearmen would join shields and protect the archers, standing behind them against whatever enemy they faced, and the Wizard would provide support from a safe distance. Arothas himself would simply judge the battle and join in where he was the most effective; the best possible task, considering his multiple talents. In the worst case scenario, where the right flank was assaulted and the left was not, he'd take a spearmen and the mage with him to hold the line, and leave the two archers and another spearman to defend the left flank. He wasn't really worried about the rear; the elves probably had it covered, seeing how often they stared at some precious tree or flower. Pathetic, really.

But overall, he judged the caravan to be well defended, though discipline was lacking amongst some ranks; he could, however, greatly appreciate Nakashimas little company; the men there seemed just as thoroughly drilled as his own, though slightly less defensive, but Arothas still trusted them to defend the front quite capably.

Owen looked at the discipline from the front and the left flank, he knew his elven brothers would do him proud, despite the lack of a formation. Rangers by nature, crept quietly through the brush, it wasn't really advanteous to comb through the woods in a line.
He called his second in command over. "LLudd, keep an eye to our rear and I want you to protect the cleric, I will personally take charge of the rangers. Now move,"

"Yes sir," Lludd responded as he fell back to where the cleric was walking.

OOCKeep in mind that I will be playing your soldiers. You can gave them orders and I will post their answer. All your post are fine since its nothing major and that's pretty much what I would have posted anyway but keep that in mind for future post. Also I dont have time to think of a name for each of them. Feel free to do so however and I will try to remember the names.

One of Drae's scouts wonders of for a moment looks at the ground for a moment and comes back. "Wolves or Warg tracks and some smaller creatures possibly goblins came trough here maybe the day before us. A small band and staying a little of the road by the looks o it." he says

Balak walks alongside one of the wagons, his hammer that was as large as him straped accros his back, catching the ground once in a while.

"Be strong men, we have work to do today. Remember what i've taught ye and all will be well."

Nakashima remained ahead of the caravan, his vision constantly scanning the horizon and possible ambush points. His mind was whirring. Every few moments he assessed the tactical effectiveness of the caravan and ran simulations in his mind accordingly. This warrior never switched off, it was one of the reasons he was so good at what he did. Naka slowed his mount to a walk to give himself a chance to check his kit. He tightened the saddlebags and adjusted his armor slightly before snatching up his short-spear. It looked simplistic, no decoration, just a well maintained weapon. Then with a flick it extended - almost doubling in size. The way he handled the weapon was well controlled, it looked heavy yet it seemed weightless in his grip. Although he didn't want to place the noble's son in danger, he wanted a chance to prove his skill and assess those he fought with.

Do not wish such things upon these men. Hope this good luck holds out, prepare yourself for the worst eventuality...

Drae nodded to the ranger "you have done well Leo, not once has your your predictions steered me wrong" she placed a slim hand on the man's shoulder before speaking again "keep the group together, keep following those tracks and tell me more when I return; I must inform the caravan of this news" with nothing more than a rustle of leaves Drae left the group, leaving the forest on the right of the caravan she spotted a dwarf - who she remembered being named Balak - walking along.

Drifting up behind him she tapped the top of his helmet and spoke in the common tongue "one of my Brother-Elves has found the possible tracks of goblins and several wolves or worgs walking alongside the the road, nearly a day ahead of this caravan."

B = Common
B = Elven

Some of Balak's men laugh at their captain's comment and the word goblins is soon passing along among the ranks and its not long until everyone's heard at least some version of "goblins nearby"

Drae could not help but chuckle at the dwarf's annoyance while she moved through the brush and rejoined her group, once nearby she asked Leo - Her second in command - "My faithful Leo, any news of the goblins and their pets?"

Naka remains stalwart as word of goblins nearby catches his ears. Yet he knows that goblins this far out tend to be just minions to some larger foes - his concentration returns to the horizon for an ambush is now much more likely.

Owen calls to his archers and his cleric, "Ok, be alert now, we know they are goblins, remember, call out the first enemy, concentrate your fire on that one, move on to the next one. Brother Thadee will cast blessing on us and be ready for any healing that is required. Your job is to see that he is protected. "
