The Lucky Belter is just the sort of place that Shraneal and Arrago know all too well; there are all sorts of spacers in here. Most of the tables are crowded, whilst in quieter corners half-hidden booths give some degree of privacy to clients who would rather that their conversations are not overheard.
The long main bar is the haunt of the serious drinkers; the sad-acts desperate to catch the eye of their favourite waitress and the customers dropping by for one last drink before they head back out into The Black.
The music is loud, some discordant variety of Marches Metal....... no-one turns to notice, let alone acknowledge the entrance of just two more pieces of flotsam on the space lanes.

Arrago stood confidently, scanning the room and looking for a table with a belter crew around it.

There is a table nearby with three men at it; their gear is battered and they have the air of working men not long in from a hard stint in the belts. Of course belters don't all look the same, but of all the people in the bar these guys immediately look the most likely.... their tall beer glasses are almost empty and the pitcher in the centre of the table is down to the froth.

Arrago walked over towards the men, motioning to Shran to follow. as he approached the table he asked in a loud but calm tone "Good rotations gentlemen, any luck out in the roid-fields?"

Shranael kept a bit behind Arrago, loose and ready if there was trouble. Some of the belters could be dangerous or just plain crazy, and it never hurt to be prepared. Arrago seemed to have a plan of attack, and she would let it play out for the moment.

The three belters seem to be in good humour although perhaps a little surprised to be approached. One of them, a large man, bearded with long black hair tied back, says 'Well however much luck we have out there, we're always glad to be back here aren't we lads?'
His friends nod and drain their glasses; he continues 'Why do you ask friend?'

Arrago looked up into the air for a moment as if in thought and said "well.." he pulled two chairs over and sat in one, leaving the other for Shran. Laying a hand on the table he continued "Me and Shran are belt-workers from over in the imperium, I was floor security (Arrago knew his blade and pistol would reinforce that story) and Shran over there was a crawler (A space worker in all the small and hard to reach crevices, most were usually skinny and quick like Shran). We had a bit of a tiff with *glanced uneasily at Shran* 'some people' over mining permits and such, we were thinking of starting again here." he paused and leaned in "and I wondered is there anyone in particular we need to speak to about 'permits'?" Arrago looked surprisingly sincere about this, he even manage to pronounce the apostrophes.

The three of them listen with evident understanding to your tale of belters' woe; 'We can fill you in on how to get working in this system, between us we've got, what? Fifty or sixty years experience in the Quare belts. Of course these things go a lot easier with some lubrication...'
One of the two who has not spoken so far makes a show of wiping the chair that Arrago pulled over for Shran. 'Sit yourself down Little Lady, we don't bite.'
His friend laughs adding predictably enough 'Not unless someone asks us to!'

Arrago nodded "as most things do.." he said understandingly. from an inside pocket he drew out 2 tokens and placed them on the table. Both had '500.Cr' engraved on their front.

In the blink of an eye a belter's hand slams down on the money and covers it up. 'That's a fair amount of lubrication there Brother! I don't know what you want to talk about, but you better sit yourself down and start talking........ not too loud mind you!'
The three belters make some more space and one of them goes off to the bar, returning at the double with more beer and two extra glasses.
'What's this all about then?'

Arrago accepted a drink, he leaned in slightly more and dropped into a more conspirital tone "I know about the protection scheme, and I want no trouble from it. I would like to talk about meeting one of the bully boys."

The bearded man who has done most of the talking for the belters up to this point asks, you think reasonably enough: 'And what would you be wanting to meet them for? You see we don't want to be put into any difficult position through being party to whatever you've got planned!'

Shranael finally sat down, trying to look less predatory and more like a crawler would. She was just supposed to be one of the belters like them, and she needed to keep that illusion going. She listened to what the others were saying without adding anything of her own, since Arrago seemed to have everything well in hand. She was surprised by the security officer, he seemed to be more knowledgeable than she expected of a security man.

Indeed, there is no reason why Shraneal would know just how chequered a past Arrago has had.......
