'Ahhh, excuse me Madam, but you have in fact taken a leaflet!' the woman in the booth shouts........
As you walk away you think you can hear her still shouting something, but you can't make out her words over the sounds of the city around you. Soon, taking the nearest turning, you find yourselves in what must be the Old Quarter that you saw on the city map.
There are no ground cars here and many of the buildings, although having modern façades, are hewn into the bedrock. Workshops and curious little businesses with misted front windows vie for space with narrow fronted houses and balcony-ridden apartment blocks; there are children playing in the streets and alleys and the locals watch you as you continue on your way.

“What an odious woman” ranted Orthan as they hurried away “Really they should learn value for money in these outposts.” The change in architecture caught his attention 2Now this is the sort of place that they should be promoting. Little nooks and crannies where a body can languish an afternoon browsing goods and services” he noted the glances that they were receiving “Shame that the locals aren’t a tad friendlier “ he waved at one man standing leaning against a building hoping that the gesture would at least warrant a smile in return

Shranael eyed the windows and signs of the shop, her curiosity showing on her face. "Alright. Mr. Orthan, you choose which place we should stop in first."

Orthan took a quick peek over his shoulder to make sure they weren’t being followed before returning his attention to the array of businesses “They all look rather quaint don’t they” he enthused “I like the look of that little row of there, the glass is frosted, they are a mystery waiting to be revealed”

No-one is following you, but the stares continue; you are certainly attracting attention, but more a sort of low level curiosity than something threatening.
From the sounds that are coming from these little establishments, most of them seem to be workshops devoted to small scale manufacturing; from time-to-time as you walk you hear the buzz of power tools or see a shower of sparks from a welder's tool.

Shranael clapped her hands together in joy. "I hear power tools!" Her voice had a sing-songy tone to it as she browsed by some of the shops. "Let's check that frosted window shop first. I bet they sell something neat!"

“Oh” was all Orthan could say without completely sounding disappointed. He had been hoping for a bijous little shop full of antiques or something similar, but certainly not anything that had an affinity with power tools or possibly oil he shuddered at the thought of oil and the stain it inevitably left on clothing “Perhaps we might be able to get a modification of one of your guns?” he suggested to Shranael seeing how happy the promise of the shop was making her “Or perhaps a nifty bit of armoury etc etc “ he floundered knowing he was out of his technical depth “Best go inside, we seem to be attracting attention out here”

The double doors of the workshop with the long frosted windows are wide open and inside a pair of men are working on a range of heavy duty droids; one of them a welding, holding a mask up to his face and ignoring a shower of sparks that is flying up over his head; the other seems to be fitting armour plates to the front panels of the squat little robotic units. Neither of them notice you enter.

Shranael smiled almost evilly. "Orthan, look! They make droids! You think we could get one?"

Orthan’s gaze settled on the rotund droid and sighed “You want one of those?” he asked gingerly “Just what would you do with one?” knowing he was on a losing battle

Shranael's smile turned feral as she regarded the droid. "What wouldn't I want to do with one? Imagine having one of these for security? Nice to have a little home security when we buy our own ship huh?"

Orthan grimaced as the droid scuttled around “Reminds me of insects” he muttered but he knew he was on a losing battle “Ok we will get one, but you have to take responsibility for it” He kinked his head to one side and viewed the droid with some distain “I suppose it will have its uses, but one track of oil in our quarters and it’s out” He looked around the shop interior and he lent over so that he could whisper in Shranael’s ear “Do you think there might be somewhere around here that I could get a little training?” he asked covertly “It’s rather emasculating having your girlfriend out shoot you, perhaps you could enquire, you are so much better at that sort of thing than me”

"I'm sure there is a gun range around here, and we'll have to get you outfitted proper." Shranael rapped on the glass, wanting to get someone's attention without stepping directly into the shop. Some of these guys had problems with customers so close to their works in progress.
