Both Laura and Lucus see the large diesel tank sat in the farmyard. Peter notices a shed attatched to the house itself, he believes it may be a generator. The snow around the yard and building look untouched, there has certainly been nobody moving around the area recently. The house itself looks dark and gloomy, all the curtains are closed and there seems to be no light in any of the windows.

Malcolm smiled, "What do you look like? You look like the gorgeous woman I first met...in fact you seem more alive. Your hair is shiny and you seem to be glowing". He cups Shelleys face in his hand "Its wonderful what love can do"

Lucas smiled a little, if it was this quiet then the old guy that may have lived here had kicked the bucket, good news in a relative way. He was careful to hide this mild glee under his usual neutrality when he reported back to the rest "Looks quiet, nobody's been out and about around here. There's a diesel tank, so maybe a bit of fuel. "

"That's good Lucas, any fuel will be useful" said Janet wiping her eyes. The wild gallop round the field in the freezing air had left them watering and she could barely see. Foolish to say it looked quiet she thought, she wouldn't have noticed if a small army had been standing in the farmyard. "Alyssa said the old man who lived here had been brought to our farm, but I think he died" she continued. She looked at the house, dark, brooding and silent. "I think maybe we should check round the back before we try going in there".

Peter wound down the window of the landy as the engine stopped. The air was suddenly a lot more still, only the sounds of the horses and the gentle ping-ping-ping of the vehicle cooling. "That tank looks like it feeds into that shed." He stuck a gloved hand out to point to the lumps in the snow. "Might be a generator in there we could use. Oh, the snow is pretty undisturbed, so if we're lucky, the place will be pretty quiet." Peter's eyes narrowed as he took the farm house in. "Then again, if you're stuck in the middle of nowhere, why go out? Best stay in and keep warm. Let's not p*ss about with this one - just in case."

The back of the farmhouse also looks dark, the snow untouched. There is broken glass on the back door...perhaps someone had tried to break in...?

"What do you think?" Janet asked the others in a low voice. "It's obvious no one is moving around out here, or hasn't been for a while. But if there is someone in there they may be sick. The plague is over now, but who knows what other diseases may be around. We should be cautious and if there is someone there, ask about their health before we go too close". The broken glass could have happened a while ago and whoever had done it long moved on before the snow came, but Janet was more cautious than she had been and more aware that not everyone would automatically be a friend.

Peter's frown deepened as his gaze fell on the sparkling shards of glass. "Someone going in, or someone going out?" he mused. "If there's someone inside, I guess they'll have heard us by now.... less they're deaf as a post that is." He studied the broken door for further clues and then took a look at the upstairs windows. More out of habit than anything else.

Laura got out of the Landy and followed the others, her eyes continung to wander towards the house. Surely someone had stopped by, either for a short while or were still inside. She was hoping they were sneaking up on nothing. She had her handy pipewrench, more than heavy enough to cave in someone's face.

As you get closer to the door there is a strong smell of mustiness, and a slight odour of rot. There was evidence of paint (or dried blood on the broken glass.

Laura gagged a little at the smell of rot, and looked into the window to see what was waiting for them inside.

Wrinkling his nose at the smell, Peter pulled a sour face. "That don't smell right. Even in this weather." He took out the pistol he'd 'borrowed' from the sleeping lad. He checked it over and then made to take a look through the window.

Sultan snorted and danced back as Janet moved him nearer to the house, then she smelled it, the horse must have caught it first. "Ugh" she muttered putting a hand over her nose and mouth. "It smells like something died in there". A thought followed on immediately. "Be careful if you're going in there. If someone did get in and died there, we don't know what they died of. It might have been something contagious".

For all the good it would do, Peter paused to haul his scarf up to cover the lower part of his face. He already had some thin gloves on, although they were far from medical grade, more to keep his hands warm.

As you look through the broken pane in the door, the door leads to a kitchen, there are two more doors off the room both are closed.

Laura followed Peter in, keeping the wrench in hand. She didn't want to bash someone's brains in, but if it was a case of her or them.....Well, she was going to make damned sure it ends up being them. She had something to look forward to at the end of the day, and no one was going to ruin her plans.
